Launched in 2014, the Migratory Species Champion Programme has recognized several institutions. Through their financial assistance, political leadership and advocacy efforts, each of these Champions has become part of a solution to issues that concern migratory species, delivering support for their conservation beyond funding. During the event, these Champions will showcase how their actions have contributed to advancing wildlife conservation. Five new Champions will receive awards for supporting initiatives ranging from combating illegal killing of birds to implementing concerted measures to preserve marine life. The Champion Night will offer an opportunity to other entities from the public and private sectors to learn about the Programme and to join it to champion concrete actions underpinning species conservation.
