Description:

The UNEP/CMS Secretariat and the Caribbean Community Secretariat (CARICOM) are organizing the First Regional Capacity Building Workshop for CMS Non-Parties of the Caribbean Region, taking place from 31 August - 2 September 2016 in Bridgetown, Barbados.

Background
The Convention on the Conservation of Migratory Species of Wild Animals is  an environmental treaty of the United Nations, providing a global platform for the conservation and sustainable use of migratory animals and their habitats. CMS brings together the States through which migratory animals pass, the Range States, and lays the legal foundation for internationally coordinated conservation measures throughout a migratory range.

The Regional Capacity Building Workshop aims at informing Non-Parties of the Caribbean Region about the work and goals of the Convention. Already existing Capacity Building tools, such as the CMS Family Manual, will be discussed and guidance to accede CMS will be provided.

The workshop is kindly sponsored by the ACP-MEAs Project.

For further information, please contact Ms Hanah Al-Samaraie, Associate Capacity Building Officer at UNEP/CMS: [email protected]
