Launch of the Anantara Dugong Education and Conservation Centre

Trang, Thailand, 10 February 2018 –  Anantara Si Kao Resort has officially opened the Dugong Education and Conservation Centre (DECC) in Trang, Thailand. The DECC not only provides an interactive and engaging educational experience, it also functions as a research laboratory for visiting scientists, and a meeting place for the community’s conservationists.

The DECC was established using funds raised in collaboration with L’Officiel and represents a partnership between Anantara Resorts, EnerGaia, Indian Ocean Trepang, the Department of Marine and Coastal Resources, Phuket Marine Biological Centre, Save Andaman Network and the CMS Dugong MOU.

The DECC features both indoor and outdoor learning areas with aquariums, a life-sized dugong model, educational posters and footage of dugongs. In the outdoor space visitors can not only see several species of marine life, they can also witness the production of spirulina.

The CMS Dugong MOU Secretariat would like to congratulate all partners involved in the project and looks forward to hearing about the ongoing success of the DECC.
